The pressure is mounting for members of the AMTM, the organising body for the World Sheep Shearing Championship which takes place from the 4th to the 7th of July 2019. It’s happening for the first time in France, and more precisely, in the small town of Le Dorat in the Haute Vienne (87). As part of the build up to July 2019, the AMTM and AMTM President, Christophe Riffaud, will be present at two important agricultural events in September 2018, the “Ferme s’invite” Agricultural Show in Poitiers and the National LImousin Breed show in Châteauroux (36).

The National Limousin Show at Châteauroux (36)
This national event organised by France Limousin Selection is the largest gathering for the Limousin Breed in France. Nearly 400 beef cattle from 250 different farms and 35 departements are expected.
Friday 21 September à 8.00pm :
– Press conference and presentation of the World Sheep Shearing championship
– Sheep shearing demonstration by the President of the AMTM, Christophe Riffaud on the place de la République in front of Châteauroux town hall, where an auction of female cattle carrying the « Limousin beef Blason Prestige » label will be taking place.
Members of the association will also be present on the AMTM stand to talk to members of the public about the world championship.
Saturday 22 September :
– Presentation on the World Championship by the AMTM President, Christophe Riffaud, to take place at the show ring.
– Sheep shearing demonstration on the Crédit Agricole stand.
« La Ferme s’invite » Agricultural show in the Parc des Expositions, Poitiers (86).
Programme :
Saturday 22 September – 7.30 pm :
– Speed Shearing competition which will take place at the end of the prize-giving ceremony for the competitions of the day and open an evening of music and celebration.
Sunday 23 September, from 8.00 am :
– International Sheep Shearing competition with around 60 competitors from all over France and Europe. There will also be some inter-country test matches. Finally, the Poitier competition marks the end of the 2018 shearing competition circuit when we will learn who is the circuit champion. This shearer alongside the National French champion will make up the team to represent France at the 2019 World Championship in Le Dorat.
