During 24 hours, two teams will go head to head in Les Hérolles, a small village in the Vienne, on the site of the Marché au Cadran (the electronic livestock auction market), a highly important agricultural landmark. Each team will consist of three shearers: a senior competitor, an open international competitor and a female competitor. Christophe Riffaud, Gilles Grancher and Eléonore Resneau are in the first team, and Pierre Grancher, Hugues Lachaume and Jalle Resneau make up the second team. The shearers will start at 6 pm on Friday and finish at 6 pm on Saturday, with 4-hour breaks to allow them to maintain an intense pace. Their goal will be to shear the maximum number of ewes possible in 24 hours over four runs (shearing sessions) of two hours. Each competitor will shear for 8 hours respectively.
For this event, the AMTM has planned to make 2,800 ewes available. It will also be an opportunity to promote the 2019 World Sheep Shearing Championship among the general public and elected representatives.
